How do i update my Magellan Roadmate 1212?

I need to update my maps and stuff and can i use any wire that will fit into it and that is a usb, also do u need any drivers before i plug in my gps into the computer? if so where can i find them and just tell me all i need to know about updating it and connecting it to my PC.
